ALIGN STUDIO

Hello
Angie began doing bodywork in 2001. She has worked in a wide variety of environments, from Scottsdale spas to small town sporting events. For 12 years she worked in an outpatient physical therapy office, an invaluable addition to her education. She is a certified Pilates instructor and yoga teacher. You may find her teaching movement classes out and about in Flagstaff, Arizona and soon online.

Angie uses the biopsychosocial model to help connect with and coach her clients. The biopsychosocial model examines how the three aspects – biological, psychological and social – occupy roles in relative health or disease. The BPS model stresses the interconnectedness of these factors. In short, Angie believes our human experiences and being human affects our bodies (pain and disease) and minds (stress.)

Angie believes that there are many ways to have an impact, and there needs to be. Her favorite way is through movement, talk and laughter. After 20 years, she has opened Align Studio: to combine the effectiveness of Pilates, yoga and massage all in one, beautiful place.
My Story
Angie grew up on her family's small, public golf course in Des Moines, Iowa. From a young age, she worked with and around people, in and around the outdoors. Since then, it has been about connection: with family and friends and nature.
Angie received her BA in Studio Art from the University of Iowa in 2000. She loves working with her hands, and specifically ceramics. And through art school, taking life drawing courses, began to see the human form as art itself. This is where the seed of bodywork was planted.
Angie's history with massage started in 2001. She loves working with people of all ages and abilities. Her favorite thing about bodywork is that every body is a work of art, informed by a lifetime of experiences.

Angie began her yoga journey in 1998, taking classes and workshops as often as possible studying many types of yoga from may different teachers. Eventually, I was inspired to take a deep dive into yoga and completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training through The Yoga Experience in Flagstaff in 2018.

Pilates became a necessity in 2008, after having her son, to aid in recovery from bulging discs and nerve pain. Pilates allows for controlled and specific movement that is extremely therapeutic and simultaneously strengthens and stretches your whole body. After 300 hours of study, she is certified in Reformer and Mat Pilates through Balanced Body.

Wherever you are on your journey, I look forward to working with you.
